Happy Memorial Day Weekend 2010!

We have the most beautiful shoreline here in North Wildwood.

I took my camera with me the other morning on my walk and tried to capture the beauty… the photos are beautiful but fail to emit the wonderful salty aroma, the quiet serenity, and the history and nostalgia that I feel when I’m on that wall…

as the light on Hereford Lighthouse turned around to shine on the foggy sea I thought of the years gone by when that inlet was bustling with activity… there were 100s of fishing boats docked there at one time before the inlet was dredged in 1953… and before that, there were many schooners that passed by the inlet… it was so dangerous, there were many shipwrecks right there over the years, Steve Murray (from the lighthouse) wrote a book about them, that is why the lighthouse was built there in 1874.

Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.

In a few more days the new SUN will be hot off the press!!

In a few more days my SON will be home for the summer!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday my husband & I took our moms and my dad out for a delightful brunch at Sandbarrens and although it was special to spend the day with my own mother who is to me the greatest woman in the world, I was missing my son.

As I was in the buffet line I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around and saw my son’s beautiful face … wow. What a surprise! words cannot explain the joy I felt at that moment! It was almost the same feeling I got when I saw his beautiful face for the first time when he was born.. I know every mom thinks her child is the most beautiful, but my son really is!

just the same…. words cannot explain the joy and satisfaction that comes with being a mother and watching her child grow up and learn to walk in truth and righteousness and integrity… I am truly truly blessed!

I Love this picture of my son on one of his homecomings…. I am going to be so happy not to have to say good bye to him again for a while!

I never was one to follow the latest fad, in fact my sister Natalie was always amazed at what a trendsetter I was. (I used to be anyway.) I think blogging must be none other than the latest craze, it seems everyone is doing it. The local newspapers boast about having many of them. What I want to know… is where do you find the extra time to blog? And who has the time to sit around and read someone’s blog everyday? I am still contemplating “to blog or not to blog?”
I’m squeezing in what may be my last one for a while.

I haven’t posted anything since the day before my delivery came because that was the last day of my winter vacation. From here on out its double shifts, six days a week! of Wife, Mom, Sister, Daughter, Friend, Homemaker, Chef, Editor, Publisher, Artist, Photographer, Wildwood Historian, Delivery person, Saleswoman. . .

The delivery is tomorrow… I know people are very hungry for it by the calls and emails coming in but for me the anticipation is just as great! I’ve been creating this issue all winter long. What I get most excited about are the people who are in it… the ones who will see their photo (especially the yearbook photos!) or the ones who will read their story or their family’s story. For this issue it’s 2 special people: Dave DelConte and Bobi Watson. I know they’re both going to cry when they see their stories!

This is me on our second delivery. Tomorrow’s is the 28th! I find it hard to believe!

Yesterday 100s of frozen people stood on the beach for over 2 hours to watch a bunch of people (who had been at Keenan’s Irish Pub since the day before) take the “Leprechaun Plunge” into the frigid 37° Atlantic Ocean. Some call them brave, I can’t get past the word “crazy.” I can’t find a rational explaination why anyone would want to do this. I don’t like going in the water until it’s good and warm by the end of July. Well, hope they had fun. I’m wondering how many of them had frost bite or hypothermia. I’m pretty sure the majority of them have major hangovers!

DEADLINES CAN ZONK YOU OUT!!!!

we made it!! now there’s a little hiatus before Delivery in one week!

I love the whooshing sounds of deadlines!

I am humbled by the number of requests every day… “When is The SUN COMING OUT?”

This morning, a little email came through simply saying… “I can’t wait for March 5th.”

Everyone’s jonsing for it! I have been putting this issue together all winter long and from this end, I am ready to wrap it up! Just getting ready to send my files to press. The delivery truck will be hauling a huge shipment of Sun by-the-seas onto our island next Thursday morning. . . March 5th!

I shouldn’t do this and ruin a surprise…. but here is another one from that fabulous bathing beauties photo shoot that my son did! He’s an amazing photographer that Rob!

This family looks so happy in their 1963 Plymouth Valiant. She warms up the engine and backs out and takes a little while to turn the wheel… remember there was no power steering then.

It reminded me of some old cars we had in our family. My sister Sharon had a blue turquoise Ford Fairlane , I had a red 1963 Mercury Monterey, I Loved that car!

I was just thinking that I can’t wait to get out and ride my new bright yellow electric golf cart!!

I have to get back to work. Only 2 more weeks and the paper goes to print!
